Why pay for Extensions?

Seriously though? Why pay for any drastic measure when you can just Photoshop it in? I kid! I’m not one for drastic cosmetic measures for the most part, but after talking to my boyfriend about breast implants last night I got inspired to write something along the same lines, and why not accompany with a picture? I’m not against cosmetic procedures, in fact, if there’s something about your body (guys or gals!) that makes you that uncomfortable, I say fix it. Not all procedures are something that I would personally do to my own body, but everything is not for everyone. If I ever get a large sum of money the first thing I would probably do after paying off my parents’ mortgage and buying Keith a Dodge Charger would be hair extensions. I almost got them for the wedding I was in, but the price is astronomical, and I want them to look good and natural.

I was playing around in Photoshop and managed to not only get rid of a zit on my chin, but brighten my complexion and grow out my hair all within the matter of an hour. I almost changed my eyes to green just to see what it would look like, but my Mom who was watching me transform on the computer screen didn’t seem to like it all that much. After all, why change my eye color when Van Morrison wrote a song about me?

My point here being, don’t let the magazines make you think you need to change your boobs, butt, hair, or what have you. Photoshop is an amazing tool which is used globally to touch up women and men even though they look fine to begin with. And if all else fails, you can always use Photoshop to make you look worse (I turned myself into a Zombie last Halloween). Besides, the Victoria’s Secret models in the catalog are robots, I’m sure of it. No one is that hot, except maybe Kate Winslet and she’s not in the VS Catalog, she’s just been naked in almost every movie she’s ever made, and looked damn good doing it.

Great blog post:) I’ve had hair extensions before, but now I’ve cut my hair very very short. I think that looks so much better on me than long hair. And yeah, I agree. Kate Winslet is hot hot hot! Love her in Titanic.

Ahh photoshop magic, I love it! It makes you feel better about yourself. HAHA kidding!

If I were rich, I’d get my nose done. The only two things that I know that I’m 100% going to get done soon is laser eye surgery (which is a pretty common procedure so it’s no big deal) and my eyelids. I’m 100% for plastic surgery… I think if you’re getting it for yourself and not everyone else, then it’s fine.

I agree on your post. Esp the Kate Winslet comment, haha. She is my absolute fave and it’s first and foremost because she is natural, with real-human-being issues (like weight and body image), yet she is amazingly gorgeous. Screw the rail thin figures, she’s hot! :P

You think the VS models are robots? They aren’t, they too are Photoshopped. You’d be surprised how much stuff is photoshopped, a lot of times they use photoshop to fix lighting issues, flab, even sometimes put on makeup.

First of all, OMG it’s been ages since I have commented and talked with you!! How are you!??!

Second of all, I found this photo of me in a swim suit the other day. I had just recently watched this video on youtube about how they use the liquify tool on photoshop to ‘touch up’ models and celebrities and they healing tool as well. I tried it and I probably took off 20 pounds in under 15 minutes. So, yea, ladies, don’t try to be those models and celebs you see because even THEY don’t look as good as they do in the photos.

The media has this unattainable idea of beauty put into our heads when even the models and all that can’t even look that good. If I could remember the video I’d post it, but they rid the models of under eye lines and they ‘thighten’ their thighs and stomachs and do all this crazy stuff in photoshop to make the models ‘beautiful’. In my opinion they look fake and unnatural…

Listening to that particular Van Morrison song is one of my guilty pleasures! :P

Great post! I used to have a LOT of insecurities because every single time I read a magazine, every single body part I owned seemed well… imperfect! But I love that more and more people are speaking up against all this fakeness!

Hehe, that Photoshopped picture looks great! And I agree about what you said about cosmetic surgery…if it makes you feel better about yourself, I don’t really see why it should be a problem.

Btw, just so you know, I think your hair looked fab even before you Photoshopped in the extensions – you have such amazing curls! :)

The ‘photoshopped’ picture looks great! But you are prettier before. It still amazes me that girls still want to look like the models in magazines, especially after Kate Winslet and countless others have gone on TV to say ‘I don’t look like this!’ Something definitely needs to be done. :)

Haha, yes, the fantastic photoshop view. I totally agree though… on some magazines the model/actresses legs are airbrushed to the extent that it looks more like… a plastic gradient surface ><

Bravo! Loved that post because its so true! And you did an awesome job transforming yourself.. it really is kind of scary to see how easy it is and you just don’t even know these days ;p

I actually do have extensions.. they are clip in so I wear them whenever I feel like it.. I haven’t in awhile. I tried to put them in a bit ago but they just.. didn’t look right.

Hahah Photoshop is so much fun! If you hadn’t told me, I wouldn’t have realised you’d edited your hair! Although for some reason I think it suits you really well the length it really is! :)

What a wonderful post. I agree with every word! Photoshop is a wonderful tool which is also used to making things unreal. I guess it’s pretty frustrating when young girls constantly feel they need to change themselves to be someone else when that person isn’t even who you think they are!

Extensions are a wonderful idea if you like them! You did a pretty good Photoshop job.
