Friday 5 on Saturday?

I decided to complete the Friday5 on Saturday just to be different & since I’ve had a bit of a lagging in my blogging thoughts, I decided this would be a fun group of questions since more often than not I always seem to be living under a rock regarding important things.

1. Where do you get most of your information about current local events? Most of the time I never know what’s going on it my town, haha. Usually my Aunt Rose knows about things like fireworks and concerts, but otherwise I usually see signs while driving.

2. Where do you get most of your information about current national and international events? My news feed!! I have it linked on my e-mail homepage! It’s the only way I get to hear about news, etc. When I’m at school I always pick up a USA Today since they’re free.

3. Who in your family always is most likely to know what’s up with everyone else in your family? My Aunt Anne (my Dad’s sister), and my Aunt Rose (my Mom’s sister) and my Mom usually know everything that’s going on including parties, vacations and the like. I’m just told where to go and I go there, haha.

4. Who at work (or school) always seems to know what’s going on? Kathleen, always without fail! She always knows what’s going on from celeb news to the crisis in the Middle East. She’s my go to for anything that might be important.

5. What other kinds of news do you try to keep up-to-date on and where do you get it? Local & celeb news is mainly what I end up trying to keep up on. Does that count? When I’m in school I’m most informed due to free papers of all kinds, but we don’t get a newspaper at my house. I get my news from friends, family & the inets.

So, for those of you who are more cultured than I am (heh), how do you get your news and stay in the know? Any tips for someone like me? Good feeds? Let me know, please!

Your Aunt Rose sounds really cool! Haha
Before my laptop broke, my homepage was iGoogle and I had a couple of boxes of newsfeed. I also read the paper when I get the chance (a couple of times a week) and my best friends are always keeping up with the news so when something momentous happens, we text each other. At least 3 people texted me when Michael Jackson died! When it comes to bigger news (Iranian election, Darfur, etc.), we’re the nerds who actually talk about it when we eat out.

Thanks for the comment. :) It’s a nightmare having that many siblings, lol. Although not so bad anymore because alot of them have moved out. I’m already an auntie 3 times, and theres 2 on the way. :)

I tend to not keep up with the news and current events very much. I just don’t have the time. It’s nice to hear that some people do though. xD

OOO! This is an interesting topic. Maybe your aunts have facebook? lol

I usually get my news from the tv show “Chelsea Lately.”

For local events I usually look online at my city’s webpage. You can also hear about events on the radio. Sometimes I learn about them through facebook. If it’s a concert, my friend Steph or my brother will tell me about them.

I don’t really hear anything about national or international events. I guess I would learn about those form the television.

I know a lot about what is going on with my family because of facebook. But before facebook it would have been my mom who knew all the gossip lol.

I’m not currently at school or work so number 4 doesn’t apply to me. I can’t think of anyone that I would go to for information when I did go to school or work.

For local news and stuff I usually go to my city’s newspaper website and read the headlines. In the past when I was interested in celebrities I used to spend a lot of money on magazines. I knew everything about celebrities back then.

I don’t really watch the news just b/c Manuel’s grandma seems to have it on all the time so I tune it out. I get a lot of info from my twitter.. I usually have TwitterFox open while on the computer so the news just tweets in, haha~ Like the deaths of Farrah, Michael, Ed & now Billy. I never read the news paper unless I see it sprawled out on the kitchen table and something catches my eye. I have a news feed on my iGoogle but never read it, haha~ I like to keep up with celebrity news but I’m not doing a good job with that either… I get all these magazines but never read ‘em until they’re like weeks or months old.

So don’t feel too bad about not being in the know.. :D

I have to admit that I tend to read more of the celeb news, than news that “matter” if you know what I mean. I’m a sucker for Perez. I visit daily.

Such a rebel doing it a day late! :) Sadly, I do not get much… news either. Even sadder is most of my current even knowledge comes from the Daily Show or The Colbert Report. Lol.
