It’s All About Love with Pacifica Beauty!

You guys know by now that Pacifica is my JAM! I have been obsessed with this brand for years now, and I’m loving that more and more people are finding out how amazing these products are. Pacifica puts three things first: Women (woo!), Animals (yas!), and our planet (love it). Cruelty free and eco-conscious? I’m down! February was all about love so Pacifica launched some amazing new items that are not available at Target (squee)!

First up? Let’s talk about the most amazing hand cream you will ever slather over your digits. I’m loving the Pacifica’s Super Hydrating Hand Cream in both Tuscan Blood Orange and Indian Coconut Nectar. Both of these scents are absolutely delectable. The Tuscan Blood Orange is spicy and sweet (think Christmas Eve and everything holiday-themed), while the Indian Coconut Nectar is sultry and summery. Midsummer nights with beach bonfires in a tube! Besides their amazing scents, all of their hand creams are packed with shea butter, almond oil, and safflower oil. I’m constantly washing my hands at work and throughout the day, so my hands need some serious love all year long. I love using their hand cream as a cuticle butter as well. Multipurpose? Loving it!

Pacifica got started as a fragrance company and has grown in multitudes since then! I’m a big fan of their roll-on fragrances full of safe, natural essential oils. The three top scents are Tahitian Gardenia, Tuscan Blood Orange, and Indian Coconut Nectar. Together? They make up Pacifica’s Daydreamer Trio! I love the packaging of the roll-on fragrances because they are pretty, sleek, and easily fit into a purse or schoolbag. Since these scents match up with their hand and body creams I love to layer the scent for a lasting fragrance all day.

Last, but not least: Pacifica’s Coco Pure Makeup Removing Wipes (which aren’t even online yet, so stay tuned). Makeup removing wipes are perfect for the gym, travel, or even a lazy late night. Jojoba and aloe are super soothing and effective, the scent smells like a summer day, and the wipes are soft and strong. I’ve found that these wipes are great at removing eyeliner and mascara (without pulling), and are super gentle to use around the eyes. Most wipes want you to avoid that area! I’m sold!

Pacifica is love, ya’ll! Which new products are you looking forward to trying? Which are some of your favorites? Let’s compare!

Firmoo Eyeglasses: Seeing Clearly in 2016!

I’ve been wearing glasses for almost all of my life. Reading, writing, and teaching take a toll on my eyes. We use computers almost all day long! Like almost everyone in the world, I’m also busy. So, a while ago I got to work with Firmoo and was really impressed with their styles, prices, and ease of access! I like having a few different options for my eyeglasses depending on my mood. I don’t want to pay an arm and a leg, and I really don’t want to wait around at my eye doctor’s office when I could be doing something better (eating tempeh, petting my dog, you get the idea).

I chose these sweet black rimmed glasses from their Blogger Collection! They have so many styles, it’s really hard to narrow it down. Whether you’re funky, traditional, or just looking for something for outdoors (they have sunglasses, too), you’ll find something to complement your personal style. Check out Firmoo for the promos and deals first. You’ll grab a pair of specs for a great price and look fabulous, too. But don’t think that’s all there is! Firmoo updates their styles daily on their new arrivals page. When I first started shopping at Firmoo, buying my glasses online was very new to me. I’m progressive, but never thought I could be progressive when it came to eyewear. If you’re new to shopping online Firmoo is going to hook you up with a 15% off coupon for new customers

Overall, I’ve ordered from Firmoo twice now and really wouldn’t think of going back to the “old way” of ordering glasses! I love my new styles and colors and I can’t bring myself to overpay at the eye doctor for my frames anymore. Here’s to seeing clearly in 2016!

October & November Cruelty Free Empties

Sometimes I go through products like crazy, and other times, I can make items last for a long time. That’s sometimes because of how often I use something (or who else…ah-hem, Keith), or sometimes because the formula just doesn’t last as long. Anywho, the empties these months are kind of lukewarm for me. Some I really love, and some I could really do without. Let’s chat about them!

A fan favorite here is Nubian Heritage anything, but this month I ran out of one of my favorite hand creams, Lavender & Wildflowers ($8.99). It’s rich, gentle, and smells amazing! Think about a magical field in the middle of a warm summer day. This lotion packs that scent in their tube with Vitamin E and Aloe for extra comfy, cushy, softness. I’m forever washing my hands at work, so this lotion is a must-have!

Next up, I’m gonna gush about Lush’s Dirty Springwash ($19.95) even though every other cruelty free blog in the universe talks about Lush. There’s a reason for that; their products WORK! The dirty line is no exception to this rule. Menthol, Spearmint, and Sea Salt cleanse you like a minty margarita. This body wash has some serious lather and rinses clean. I love how awake my skin feels after using this. Dirty is perfect for right after the gym, or early in the morning to wake up your senses. Keith is a fan of all things from the Dirty line. I’ve even used this on my face in a pinch. Get dirty to get clean? Well, if you insist…

As a curly girl, I have some serious drama after the shower. Detangling, moisturizing, and styling are sometimes a real process. The DevaCurl No Comb Detangling Spray ($19.95) is the solution. The scent is fresh and light and the product does what it says. You spray it, you style, you have no knots. Period. Lemongrass, Mint, and Rosemary pack a punch. And did I mention? Deva does not test and are working on making more of their products vegan!

Last up, a product I’m actually conflicted about. Burt’s Bees is a brand that is cruelty free, but owned by Clorox. I don’t believe in blaming children for their parents’ faults (teacher logic here), so I tend to give chances to brands who are cruelty free but owned by a parent company that tests. I want to vote with my dollars, and I want them to see that people are opting for their cruelty free brands. That’s not why I’m conflicted though. The Gud, Pearanormal Activity line has some great and not so great qualities. Nothing is more than $7.00 from this line which is very budget friendly (yay!), but the shampoo stripped my hair (boooo!). The scent is fresh and delicious (yay!!!), but the conditioner made me break out since it didn’t rinse clean (boooo!). I wouldn’t buy this line on my own, but maybe for a non-curly girl this line will work better.

What have you used this month???

Currently Obsessed: doTerra Essential Oils

Okay ladies and gentlemen, I’ve been actually working on this post for a long time since I wanted to have as much information as possible for you. Even though this post says “currently” obsessed, I’m pretty much going to be permanently obsessed with my new essential oils. Here’s the scoop: first of all they are sustainably and ethically sourced, they are CPTG (Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade), and they WORK! I first got into doTerra from Myles. His breeder and our now good friend, Nancy, uses all holistic methods for flea and tick prevention, pain management, and more. I’m down with the natural approach and since May, I’ve been regularly using oils for multiple tasks around the house. Here’s how I use some of my faves and for what purpose!

The above is my go-to for air purification. The On Guard contains cinnamon bark and boosts immunity. Lemon also purifies the air and Wild Orange helps to boost energy and a general sense of wellbeing. I’ve been using this blend in a diffuser almost every morning on the weekends when I air out the house and have windows open. It also smells like FALL TO THE MAX!

For nighttime, we diffuse Serenity Blend and lately, Eucalyptus since I’ve been battling a cold and congestion. Even Myles loves the Serenity blend. All three of us fall asleep pretty quickly with this blend going.

For headaches I’ve used a diffuser or topical blend of Peppermint on my temples and the back of my neck. I also couple this with a ton of water and the occasional heat therapy. It works for a mild/medium headache.

Myles’ flea and tick repellent (which also works for humans), is a blend of Aloe, Water, Eucalyptus, Peppermint, Terrablend, Cleansing Blend, and Geranium Oil. I spray this on him and his harness and collar once per day. Luckily, the summer is winding down and the cooler weather means less bugs of all types.

So far I’ve been having a great time adding oils to my lotions and even to my laundry soap (Lavender towels? Yes, please!) and it’s been fun playing around with different diffuser recipes. I’m still  candle-holic, but I love that alternating with my oils also gives some health benefits. As I find more recipes and uses I’ll post them! 🙂

Here’s to the oily life!

YUNI Beauty Brand Launch Extravaganza Review

Has it been a busy end of summer in blog-land or what? I’ve been having a fantastic time trying out and sampling new products, but when I met the fine folks behind Yuni Beauty: Seekers of Good, I knew I was in for a treat! Yuni Beauty is a brand that has LITERALLY just launched and I’m in love. Their natural, organic, animal (and people) friendly philosophy is something I can get behind, and Emmanuel Rey, the founder of the brand, combines two things that I love: yoga and beauty. Rey is an ashtanga yoga instructor and an all around great person to talk to. I have a bunch of amazing items share with you, so let’s get started, shall we?

Yes, this all came in a lovely little package pour moi! :)

Instant Shower Sheets ($12) and No Rinse Cleansing Foam ($19): These babies are amazing and were actually the first product of Yuni that I tried! I love anything that makes staying fresh and clean convenient. The Yuni Beauty Instant Shower Sheets smell fresh and minty. Neem oil soothes the skin, and the aloe helped me feel comfortable and clean after a day at the beach with a lot of sun time. I used two sheets (one for upper and lower body) and felt great for the ride home. These wipes are plant-based and biodegradable, too. Likewise, the cleansing foam is soft, gentle, and contains the same botanicals from Neem and Aloe. I liked the foam for a heavier workout (lifting or running), as it seems to me to be more concentrated and powerful than the instant shower sheets. Either way, BOTH need to be in you gym bag!

Sometimes, around the change of season my skin can get cranky. So, both the Yuni Beauty Active Calm Face Serum ($29) and Active Calm Moisturizer ($29). The moisturizer is rich and smells earthy which I really liked. It packs a punch of green tea and Turmeric for a major antioxidant boost which is perfect for the summer to fall shift that’s going on where I live. The serum has the same green tea blend with an added dose of Echinacea stem cells to promote youthful skin. I liked using the serum before bed, and the moisturizer as a light base for my day to day makeup. As I also have oily skin, the moisturizer kept me from getting too shiny and greasy, and never felt heavy!

The Yuni Beauty Microveil Hair Treatment ($22), was unexpectedly awesome for me. Packed with Argan and Kukui oils (two oils I’ve used on my hair before), this treatment boasted being heat activated. I do NOT heat style my hair. So, I was worried that I wouldn’t see the benefits. I used this every second day after my hair was lightened and colored to the bright red I have now. It was a great supplement to my other cruelty free hair treatments. Curls are so finicky, but they were shiny and looked really great. I’m glad this worked for me even though I don’t use heat.

Yuni Beauty’s body care was just as exciting for me to try! Their all-purpose cream and moisturizer (not yet available), are both thick and luxurious. I really liked using them after shaving as a soothing balm. Finishing off with their Aromatic Body Mist ($25), gave me a spa like experience at home!

If you’re on the search for a new plant-based, organic and essential oil infused dose of amazing, look no further than this Yoga inspired brand. Namaste!
