YUNI Beauty Brand Launch Extravaganza Review

Has it been a busy end of summer in blog-land or what? I’ve been having a fantastic time trying out and sampling new products, but when I met the fine folks behind Yuni Beauty: Seekers of Good, I knew I was in for a treat! Yuni Beauty is a brand that has LITERALLY just launched and I’m in love. Their natural, organic, animal (and people) friendly philosophy is something I can get behind, and Emmanuel Rey, the founder of the brand, combines two things that I love: yoga and beauty. Rey is an ashtanga yoga instructor and an all around great person to talk to. I have a bunch of amazing items share with you, so let’s get started, shall we?

Yes, this all came in a lovely little package pour moi! :)
Yes, this all came in a lovely little package pour moi! 🙂

Instant Shower Sheets ($12) and No Rinse Cleansing Foam ($19): These babies are amazing and were actually the first product of Yuni that I tried! I love anything that makes staying fresh and clean convenient. The Yuni Beauty Instant Shower Sheets smell fresh and minty. Neem oil soothes the skin, and the aloe helped me feel comfortable and clean after a day at the beach with a lot of sun time. I used two sheets (one for upper and lower body) and felt great for the ride home. These wipes are plant-based and biodegradable, too. Likewise, the cleansing foam is soft, gentle, and contains the same botanicals from Neem and Aloe. I liked the foam for a heavier workout (lifting or running), as it seems to me to be more concentrated and powerful than the instant shower sheets. Either way, BOTH need to be in you gym bag!

Sometimes, around the change of season my skin can get cranky. So, both the Yuni Beauty Active Calm Face Serum ($29) and Active Calm Moisturizer ($29). The moisturizer is rich and smells earthy which I really liked. It packs a punch of green tea and Turmeric for a major antioxidant boost which is perfect for the summer to fall shift that’s going on where I live. The serum has the same green tea blend with an added dose of Echinacea stem cells to promote youthful skin. I liked using the serum before bed, and the moisturizer as a light base for my day to day makeup. As I also have oily skin, the moisturizer kept me from getting too shiny and greasy, and never felt heavy!

The Yuni Beauty Microveil Hair Treatment ($22), was unexpectedly awesome for me. Packed with Argan and Kukui oils (two oils I’ve used on my hair before), this treatment boasted being heat activated. I do NOT heat style my hair. So, I was worried that I wouldn’t see the benefits. I used this every second day after my hair was lightened and colored to the bright red I have now. It was a great supplement to my other cruelty free hair treatments. Curls are so finicky, but they were shiny and looked really great. I’m glad this worked for me even though I don’t use heat.

Yuni Beauty’s body care was just as exciting for me to try! Their all-purpose cream and moisturizer (not yet available), are both thick and luxurious. I really liked using them after shaving as a soothing balm. Finishing off with their Aromatic Body Mist ($25), gave me a spa like experience at home!

If you’re on the search for a new plant-based, organic and essential oil infused dose of amazing, look no further than this Yoga inspired brand. Namaste!

August 2015 BuluBox Review with #Sweatpink & Discount Code!

I love getting things in the mail! Even bills make me happy, which I know is weird. I just love having something to open when I get home after a long day at work which is why the ever-famous subscription boxes make a regular appearance on my porch! This month, I’m all about the BuluBox, which I got a chance to try out as a #Sweatpink Ambassador! BuluBox is the newest health, fitness, and weight loss themed box designed to help you meet your goals with new, innovative products. Each custom box comes filled with a new mix of 4 to 5 premium samples from top brands to try! All of my readers can check it out by using the discount code SWEATPINK for 50% off a 3-month subscription–which is a steal!

The goods! :)
The goods! 🙂

My box came with 5 different samples to check out. I really loved the bright packaging and the card that gave me info about all of the products. Most boxes come with some type of card, but this one was easy to read and provided me with ingredient lists, and clear information. Of course, the Bulu brands were featured with their contact info so you can visit their websites and/or social media pages to learn more about each product.

Let’s start with my FAVORITE product from this box, Earth’s Care Anti-Itch Cream. I not only got eaten alive the past few nights, but I also somehow got poison ivy while playing with the dog all over my feet. Earth’s Care has no fake colors, fragrances, and contains no petroleum or other nasties. It also had no scent, which makes me a happy camper. Within about 5 minutes, the itching was gone. This brand is also CRUELTY FREE people! No need to slather yourself in awful chemicals!

Next up, Mediterra’s Sundried Tomato and Basil bar! Usually bars are sweet, but for me, I adore savory flavors. This flavor was delicious. It had a nice mix of EVOO and Italian style seasonings and DAYUM, did this thing keep me full. It’s packed with pea protein and cashews which made it a nice source for my healthy fats (that I’m not always so awesome at getting in). They also offer flavors like Olive & Walnuts, and the standby sweet flavors.

The Movit Energy Gummies were something I never thought to try before. I am usually a PM coffee girl, and by the end of my workday I need a small java to get myself running and ready for the gym, dinner, and any other obligations we have for the night. The gummies were tasty and sweet, they kind of reminded me of my vitamins I take, but didn’t do much more for me than having a cup of coffee. If you’re trying to cut calories, this would be a great alternative to the afternoon drink or snack to perk you up.

I’m always looking for new ways to stay satisfied, and fiber is something that I definitely don’t lack as a vegetarian. However, the Yerba Prima Fiber sample was gentle and seemed effective. Because I eat a lot of packed greens and don’t always drink a ton of water, the cleansing formula of the Prima was like hitting the reset button after a weekend of partying. I also like that it’s sweetened with Stevia and gently gets things moving. Psyllium husk certainly does the trick!

Last but not least, was Quest Peanut Butter Protein Powder. This is the one product that I was kind of “blah” about. Protein powder isn’t really something I use on the daily. I’m a fan of getting my protein from whole foods. If you’re someone who drinks a lot of smoothies or needs a post-workout snack, this would probably do it for you. Quest does mention baking with this powder, so you might try and make protein pancakes or cookies. Either way, protein is protein when it’s in powder form (at least for me).

I enjoyed most of the things in my BuluBox, so now it’s your turn to #LoveBulu! Use the discount code SWEATPINK for 50% off a 3-month subscription and tell me and @bulubox how you #LoveBulu.

Four Natural Face Masks to Add to Your Collection

This month I have been obsessing over natural face masks! I’ve done some cool DIY recipes with my new essential oils (more on that in the future), and copy-catted some DIY from Pinterest (good and bad–egg masks are NOT COOL), but I finally took a look at my own personal collection and realized I have a ton of face masks! I haven’t even included my LUSH fresh face mask or my Morgan’s Boutique Iced Mint Mask. Those two I’ve gushed about enough on here, so if you’re looking for something other than the usual suspects, this is your post. I love that these masks are truly like food for your skin. These natural face masks leave your skin feeling deliciously smooth, matte, and just plain ready for the day!

I love ACURE’s cell stimulating facial mask because it has a base of green clay which makes it a good pick for my fellow oily gals and guys out there in internet-land. This made me feel like a monster because it is literally bright green. The smell is light and it’s packed with Seabuckthorn (my fave) and Argan oil. I concentrated the mask around the sides of my nose and within my chin area to get the best oil removal. My skin felt a little tight afterwards, but it was well worth it. There’s a note of spearmint too which wakes up your face.

If you’re looking for a lift, the Osmosis Hydralift Mask has a gel base that helps to plump the skin and firm with use. Cucumber, peppermint, and green tea extract hydrate and comfort and aloe vera promotes cell renewal. This is great for mature skin or young skin alike! The gel feel is different than you would get from a typical clay based mask, but I enjoyed it! This one is a bit pricey, but if you can score it, a little goes a long way and the product truly works, which for me justifies a heftier spend!

When it comes to TOTAL brand crushes, I’m a sucker for etsy-based shops and truly artisan craftsmanship. Enter Becca and Mars Lavender Love. I used this more as a scrub than a mask, but that’s not to say it’s not equally awesome for both! Everything in this shop is hand-made. This scrub features white corn meal, almond meal, and essential oils of lavender, bergamot, and clary sage. This is a floral, yet earthy scrub which offers some great aromatherapy benefits with its essential oils! I’m also obsessed with their jars for packaging bigger products. When a product looks as awesome as it works, I’m a happy camper. This is a great mask for someone who wants a gentle, effective cleanser and natural face mask in one.

Finally…my current mask obsession…The Little Alchemist Cocoa & Banana Face Glow is the bomb! I love this natural face mask because when you open it it is literally cocoa and banana deliciousness! This smells like dessert and sucks up oil like no other. This mask is full of goodies for the skin: turmeric, pomegranate, spirulina, and mushroom, and instantly improves the condition of your skin. I was glowing like the sun. 🙂 I used this mask after a few days outside in the summer heat and some beach days. My skin was craving some exfoliating and detoxification.

Before the summer’s over get your hands on one (or all) of these potions. We always try and feed our bodies right, but don’t forget about our skin! Rock these skin superfoods and take more selfies! You’re going to want to!

The Cruelty Free and Natural Deodorant Round-up

Whoa! It’s finally here! I’ve been a little bit slow to finally post this, but I wanted to really try each product in this video and give my full thoughts. So, without further ado, for all you ladies (and men) who want to smell pretty without slathering yourself in toxins, the official Curls.nu Cruelty Free Deodorant Round-up.

Aren’t they pretty???

I usually don’t do video blogs, but I really wanted to cover all of these without overloading you on reading. I just have too much to say (surprised? I am Italian after all…).

Overall, I was pretty stoked to be reviewing and trying out these products. I had a really awesome (and honest) group of folks who promised to let me know if I totally reeked and I researched all of the ingredients to make sure that I could compare and contrast to see what worked best for my body chemistry.

That’s the most important part of this WHOLE post. What worked for me might not work for you, and what made me smell atrocious might work like a charm for you. So, have fun, play around, and make sure that you have someone who will let you know if you could clear a football stadium. Last, enjoy my terribly awkwardness on video. It’s Saturday morning on the East Coast and I’m not wearing my eyebrows.

December 2014 Vegan Cuts Beauty Box Review

It might not be Christmas anymore, but it still feels like Christmas to me since I’ve been having a ball with my December Vegan Cuts Beauty Box! The Christmas season is always super busy for me, not to mention right after New Year’s we took our honeymoon. So some extra pampering products were just what I needed this month. Interested? The Vegan Cuts Beauty Box is a monthly subscription box that starts at $19.95 per month. It’s a great way to try new brands and new products without the commitment of buying the full-size version and can be shipped anywhere!

Cutest packaging ever!
Cutest packaging ever!
I added an accent with ELF vegan glitter. :)
I added an accent with ELF vegan glitter. 🙂

Bella Pierre Nail Polish in Copper Brown: When I saw this color in my VC box, I was pumped. I’m a major lover of all things metallic and sparkly and this hue did it for me. I painted my digits with this color right before Christmas Eve for a fun holiday tint. This lacquer, however, didn’t have the staying power I would have wanted. By New Year’s (less than a week!), I was repainting my nails and touching up. I’m not giving up on this brand though! Perhaps a good cruelty free and/or vegan topcoat will do the trick? This lacquer is also 3-free goes on well! Two coats and I was good to go!

North Coast Organics Spray Lotion: This lotion isn’t really a lotion, per-say. It’s really more of a body oil which is fine with me, just unexpected. North Coast Organics is vegan, organic, and all of their products are handmade which I love. The consistency of the oil is velvety and warm. I used this after shaving and after showering regularly. I love the lavender and rosemary scent. To me, this lotion smells like the holidays!

Delizioso Skincare Natural Cream Blush: This little guy was my absolute favorite product from the packaging (the adorable white purse in the above photo), to the scent (a little sugary sweet), to the consistency (smooth and sultry) to the shade (the you just went sledding and have a winter glow cheek of yesteryear). I’ve actually NEVER tried a cream blush until this beauty box came to me last month. I loved the idea of using it as a stain for my cheeks and lips as well. For me, the cream blush blended well with my other makeup (primer and bronzer) and looked NATURAL whereas powder blushes can look cakey. I’m hooked!

21 Drops Essential Oil in Focus: This essential oil was “essential” (lol, ok…cheesy), for me to have during the holidays. The Focus sample I received smells like Frankincense, Rosemary, and Peppermint. I used it on my temples and wrists and the peppermint (which was the strongest scent to me), woke me up and left me feeling refreshed instead of run-down. I’ve always been a fan of essential oils and this one was perfect. I also enjoyed using this before I began a new project during the month like wrapping presents or preparing for guests!

Becca & Mars Lavender Love Mask & Scrub: Last, but definitely not least…B&M’s luscious scrub! I’m a huge fan of anything scrubby and squidgy. On their website they say, “We believe that nature creates the best ingredients,” and I couldn’t agree more! This mask/scrub contains white corn meal, almond meal, essential oils of lavender, bergamot, and clary sage and smells amazing. I simply add a little bit of water when I’m going to use this as a scrub on my face and form a nice paste. I’ve also used this on the backs of my legs to get rid of that dull winter skin. I love, too, that B&M is an Etsy brand! Yay VCUTS for supporting brands of all sizes, right? This mask works as a great once a week gentle exfoliator and reviver while soaking up oils and dead skin with the corn and almond meal. It’s like a superfood smoothie for your face!

I had a blast with this months beauty box. Did you have any favorites from this month?
